BPA Smart Bin: AI waste sorting unveiled at RoboCleaning 2026
The RoboCleaning 2026 event, organized by the Moscow Innovation Cluster, was held as a tech-focused community day featuring robotic solutions for cleaning and environmental tasks. During the event, BPA demonstrated its smart bin—a hardware and software system for real-time intelligent waste sorting.
The solution uses artificial intelligence and computer vision technologies to identify waste types and automatically sort them into categories. According to BPA CTO Vadim Medyanik, the system can currently distinguish up to 11 types of waste, including plastic, cardboard, and metal. Plans are in place to expand this to 100 categories in the future.
The device operates autonomously without an internet connection and is powered by a standard 220V outlet, allowing it to be used in various types of facilities without additional infrastructure. Primary use cases include offices, shopping centers, business spaces, and other high-traffic areas where initial waste sorting is required.
The first production run will consist of approximately 100 units. A pool of pre-orders has already been established, including interest from organizations in Moscow.
A feature in Izvestia confirms the growing interest in automated waste separation technologies and the relevance of implementing AI-based solutions in urban and commercial environments.
Participation in RoboCleaning 2026 provided an opportunity to test the product in real-world user interactions and gather additional feedback for the further development of the solution.
